Pizza for Breakfast?
"I admit it! Before you go a sentence further, I am a breakfast fanatic. And even if you never, ever, eat breakfast, please read on anyway."
You already know all the arguments for eating a good morning meal, but let's review a few of those ideas. You haven't eaten for eight to twelve hours, and your body needs fuel to start the day, and I don't mean the caffeine kick we talked about earlier. Do you burn a greater number of the day's calories in the morning than during the remainder of the day? If you skip a morning meal, you're more likely to overeat at lunchtime and beyond. Not only are most of us physically more active in the morning, but also we tend to be, or need to be, more mentally alert, which is why so many schools offer breakfast programs.
Pizzas and Quiches
Now this may seem like a strange subject, but let's look at breakfast pizzas as two of my favorites use fruit. (See recipe for Breakfast Pizza)
You can buy mixes, fresh ready-made, or frozen at the grocery store to keep on hand. Pizza shells are a real convenience, and the bread outlet near us has such good buys on them that I keep a half dozen in the freezer. But, nothing beats fresh.
